Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
The FSTP program allows skilled professionals in high-demand trades to immigrate to Canada where their skills can be highly valued in the labour market.
Basic requirements for program candidates:
– Work Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience within the last 5 years in one of the following trades:
- Group 72- industrial electrical and construction work.
- Group 73- equipment maintenance and operation operations.
- Group 82- supervisors and technicians in natural resources, agriculture, and related industries.
- Group 92- processing, production and utility supervisors and central control operators.
- Group 632, cooks and chefs.
- Group 633, butchers and bakers.
– Job offer or certificate of qualification: the candidate must have a valid job offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least 1 year or
certificate of qualification in a skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority
– Proficiency in English or French. IELTS (General Module) or CELPIP in English, TEF in French. Candidates must have a minimum score of 5 on the Canadian Language Benchmark(CLB) in listening and speaking, and 4 in reading and writing.
-Proof of Funds. The amount depends on the number of family members.
-Education. There are no specific education requirements for this program, but it adds points to your Express Entry profile.
